Jacob Zapatka awarded USPTA New England U30 Professional of the Year!
USPTA New England U30 Professional of the Year
Jacob Zapatka of Stamford, CT was recognized as the United States Professional Tennis Association/New England’s U30 Professional of the Year at its annual convention at the Marriot Sable Oaks Hotel in Portland, ME on Friday May 3rd, 2019. Each year the United States Professional Tennis Association recognizes one division member under the age of 30 who, through their tennis teaching and volunteer spirit, has increased opportunities for others to participate in tennis. The recipient must exemplify and emphasize individual achievement and sportsmanship along with teaching the physical attributes of the sport. The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) member must be highly regarded by the organization and has made a commitment to grassroots tennis and an indelible impression on his or her community.
Appointed in February of 2019 as the U30 Liaison for USPTA New England, Mr. Zapatka continues to see an increasing number of millennials and young adults that are taking part in more USPTA sponsored social tennis opportunities. He is excited to see the growth of the U30 movement in the New England division continue. Having so many U30 pros in the New England division is an amazing way to introduce these young coaches to the USPTA community and to motivate them to recruit other under 30 coaches to join the movement. Moving forward he is hoping to see more of the U30 pros create learning and volunteer opportunities to support their local communities and teaching professionals. This will help U30 pros not only become more involved in their communities but help them develop the business and communication skills that are so important in the tennis industry. Mr. Zapatka sees opportunities for growth not only for young tennis professionals, but for all professionals in the tennis industry to embrace this movement.
Mr. Zapatka currently serves as the 12 & Under IGNiTE Junior Program Supervisor for the Weston Racquet Club. He is a certified Elite USPTA Tennis Professional, certified International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) Level I & II Teaching Professional, certified United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) 10 & Under and 11-17 Teaching Professional and a United States Tennis Association Net Generation Provider. He has a BSBA with a concentration in Sport Management. Mr. Zapatka was introduced to the tennis industry at 17 years of age coaching for local and recreational programs around Connecticut. It was a few years later that he would become more serious about becoming a tennis professional. Since becoming a USPTA certified tennis professional in 2017 he has continued to grow not only as an instructor, but as a committed member of the United States Tennis Association, which better qualifies him to deliver tennis at Weston Racquet Club and beyond.
