Junior Tennis Overview
Junior Tennis Hitting Hot Program Pathway at Weston Racquet Club
Ivan Lendl's Hitting Hot Teaching System is a comprehensive approach to learning to play tennis well. Hitting Hot teaches a complete understanding of how to play from all positions, in all game situations, and both offensively and defensively.
Learning, enjoyment and sportsmanship are the cornerstones of Hitting Hot. Proper etiquette, sportsmanship, physical fitness and rules of play are emphasized at all levels.
WRC's Junior Pathway of instruction, encompasses levels from beginner players as young as three years old to those planning to play in high school, college and competitive USTA tournaments.
At the Development level, our IGNiTE 12 and Under Tennis program helps children learn to play tennis as they would learn other youth sports, on a smaller court with smaller balls and racquets. WRC has worked with experts worldwide to develop IGNiTE – the comprehensive and highly effective program that helps DEVELOP THE ENTIRE CHILD through the game of tennis. It includes an introduction to tennis fundamentals and stroke techniques in a fun and team-oriented environment.
Competitive and Excellence programs, part of our FiRE curriculum, are designed for those junior players age 12+. This robust curriculum takes students to a higher level with emphasis on technique, personal playing styles, strategic and tactical decision-making, and mental skills training. For those athletes who aspire to play high school varsity level tennis and beyond, the focus is on ball control, building offensive weapons, and playing against different styles effectively. Participation in sanctioned competition is encouraged, as it becomes an integral part in developing skills.
